Who our translators are
Our translators are accredited professionals, not generalists. Each is a member of a provincial association or order and works under the national framework set by the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), holding the Certified Translator (C. Tr.) title, known in French as traducteur agree. That accreditation is what lets them sign a statement of accuracy that authorities recognize.
Just as important is the match between translator and document. We assign each file to a translator who works in the right language pair and knows the subject, whether it is a civil status record, a university transcript, a contract, or a technical report. The result is a translation that reads correctly and uses the terminology the receiving office expects.

Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island do not have their own provincial associations; for documents used there, we provide translations certified under the national CTTIC framework. As an agency, Certilingua is also a member of the Canadian Language Industry Association (CLIA) and the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA).
What accreditation means for your documents
A certified translation is more than an accurate one. When a translator holds the C. Tr. or traducteur agree title, their seal and signed statement of accuracy carry professional accountability, and that is precisely what institutions look for. It is why a translation prepared this way is accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the provincial nominee programs and Quebec's selection process, the courts, universities and colleges, professional regulators, and employers.
Because the translator is accredited, a separate sworn affidavit is not needed for most purposes. When a specific office or a foreign government does require one, we add a notarized affidavit, and for countries in the Hague Convention we help arrange an apostille.

How we match a translator to your document
When your document arrives, we look at three things: the language pair, the subject, and the level of certification the receiving office requires. From there, the file goes to an accredited translator suited to it, a reviewer checks the finished work against the source, and we certify it to the right standard.
