Frequently asked questions about language coverage
A few essential clarifications for clients exploring our language directory before placing an order. For language-specific details (formal conventions, transliteration standards, document types most frequently translated), see the dedicated page for your target language.
My language is not listed. Can you still translate it?
Yes, in most cases. The listed languages represent our most-requested pairs but our network covers over 60 languages, including rare and minority languages where capacity exists. Contact us with your specific need and we confirm translator availability and timeline within hours. For very rare languages, turnaround may extend by a few business days, with pricing quoted after confirmation.
Do you translate into French and English only, or also into other languages?
For documents intended for use in Canada, we primarily translate from foreign languages into English and French, the two official languages recognized by IRCC, courts, universities, and provincial registries. For documents leaving Canada (Canadian-issued documents needed abroad), we also translate from English or French into other languages on request, with appropriate certification for the destination country.
My document mixes two languages. Is that handled?
Yes. Many documents combine languages: Maghrebi documents in Arabic and French, Indian documents in regional languages with English sections, Quebec bilingual records, Swiss multilingual cantonal records. We assign translators capable of handling both source languages within the same document, with no separate pricing for the secondary language. Each section is translated in full, with the source language clearly indicated.
How do you handle regional variants like Latin American vs European Spanish?
Regional variants matter for terminology, naming conventions, and document formatting. A Mexican acta de nacimiento uses different administrative conventions than a Spanish certificado de nacimiento, even though both are in Spanish. Our translators are assigned based on familiarity with the source region. Tell us the country of origin when ordering and we match accordingly. Pricing is identical regardless of regional variant.
Are translations from non-Latin scripts handled with the same accuracy?
Yes. Arabic, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Tamil, Hebrew, Farsi, Greek, Amharic, Burmese, Thai, Khmer and other non-Latin scripts are handled with the same accreditation and verification protocols as Latin-script languages. Names are transliterated according to internationally recognized standards (ISO 9 for Cyrillic, ALA-LC for Arabic, Pinyin for Chinese, Hepburn for Japanese) and matched to your passport spelling whenever possible.
How quickly can you deliver in less common languages?
Standard delivery (48 to 72 hours) applies to all major language pairs in our directory. For less common languages like Lao, Wolof, Tigrinya, or Lingala, turnaround typically extends to 3 to 5 business days due to smaller translator pools. Rush delivery is available on the most common languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese) with same-day options when ordered before noon Eastern Time.
